A stepper motor is a brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a series of equal, discrete steps. Driven by digital electrical pulses, it allows for highly precise positioning and speed control without requiring a feedback sensor.
How It Works
- Coil Setup: Contains two complete sets of phase windings (Coil A and Coil B) with no center taps.
- Current Reversal: Requires an H-bridge driver circuit to switch the positive and negative voltage polarity back and forth through each coil.
- Control Steps: Can operate in full-step, half-step, or micro-stepping modes for smooth, high-resolution movement.
